Company secretaries are responsible for ensuring that their company complies with standard financial and legal practice, like health & safety, In other words, making sure the company is run in a formal and legal manner, and keeping the records that need to be kept – for instance minutes of board meetings. Sounds boring? Yes it does, but it is not. The company secretary is usually listed after the managing director for a reason – it is the second most important role in the company.
The role is for you if you are methodical, like to work in a structured way, have a good attention to detail, and have enough presence to make sure everyone else toes the line.
This is not the role for you if you have your head in the clouds or are very creative – you might soon get bored.
